Japanese net term part-2

おk
It means OK.

うp
It means up and upload.

How these words started is easy.
It's only that We input [OK] [UP] by Hiragana characters (Japanese two-byte characters) and don't convert.
Of course these words are used in only casual case in the net.

Sorry if you can't see Japanese characters in your computer and garbled characters!

KON-KATSU

There is a new word Kon-Katsu since a few years ago, and now became common word.
Kon-Katsu  is clipped word from 結婚活動 [Kekkon-Katsudou].
(Kekkon means marriage,Katsudou means activity.)

It means people do something for marriage.
because there is a tendency to marry late in Japan...
I don't do any Kon-Katsu  although I think that it's difficult to encounter men. haha.

SUGOMORI

I often hear [巣ごもり (SUGOMORI)] in news show something.
Original meaning of the word is birds stay at their nest but now we use it as people stay indoors.
It means that it's bad economy so people don't want to use money.

The number of overseas travelers will decrease the year-end and New Year holidays.

Average annual salary and bonus have been decreasing so I agree people are SUGOMORI. haha.
But it's wonderful that family stay at home together and having nice time. :-)

KANJI of this year

There is something an annual event this season. (12th December)
It's KANJI of this year.
It's chosen by a vote.

←This year 's KANJI is []
[新]means new.

 The reason are:
New administration in Japan.
New president in America.
New influenza virus.
New world record:
in many swimming players by new type of swimming-wear.
Japanese base ball player Ichiro had set a record for hits in a season in major league.
・・・and the rest.

DOARA

ドアラ[Doara] is 中日ドラゴンズ[Chunichi-Doragonzu]'s (one of Japanese professional base ball team) mascot character.
DOARA means DORAGONS and KOALA mixed and for short.
He is popilar. It's like clut popularity.

He is very diferent from other team's mascot characters.
They are cheerful and cute but he is very unique, funny, but sometimes cool and acrobatics.

I can't understand waht he do sometimes.
His catch word is FREEDOM.
I can't help laughing everytime I see DOARA's video.
I think his action is kind of surrealism. haha.

These are my favourite his videos.

His name is 東国原 英夫 [Hideo Higashikokubaru].
He became a governor of Miyazaki prefecture in January.

Because he was a comedian as a stage name そのまんま東 [Sonomanma Higashi].
His a master was ビートたけし [Beat Takeshi].
You might know him as 北野 武 [Takeshi Kitano]. It's a film director name. (More information...Takeshi Kitano in Wikipedia)

Hideo Higashikokubaru dicided to stand for election and quit a comedian, went back to his hometown Miyazaki prefecture.
Firstly we didn't think he won... but he has been getting his hook in us.

I saw a TV programme about Japanse culture in other countries.
Among them,it's interesting that some French people use Japanese word 「Kawaii」.
[Kawaii] means pretty,cute,adorable.
However,Japanese young girls say [Kawaii] for a lot of things.
Perhaps,it imply many meaning as young girls...for exsmaple COOL,INTERSTING and so on.

There is new young slang, Kimo-Kawaii.

Japanese NET term Ⅰ

Have you ever seen letter [W] at Japanese blog or spmething site?
It means chortle,laugh,smile...
When we write that in Japanse,(笑).
[笑] this KANJI means chortle, laugh, smile and read [Warai].
And then,we write only the first letter [W].
I guess that firstly, people want to explain quickly in chat and game.
So,they had choice only one letter.
And then,we use it in blog and something NET place. (It's only casual situation.)

For exsample...
 昨日は自転車でこけた。w
 今日は車にひかれた。ww

In English...
